Peru: Inca Inchi oil

30th November 2012, the European Commission recognises Inca Inchi oil as foodstuff. Andean populations have consumed Inca Inchi oil (Plukenetia volubilis) for centuries. Today, it is the plant source with the highest levels of EFA, Essential Fatty Acids and in particular in Omega-3 (55%).

18th July 2015, the Institute of Andean Peruvian Research, reporting to the Ministry of Environment, states that GREENTECH, associated with Agroindustrias Amazonicas for the agricultural production of Inca Inchi seeds for oil extraction, complies with Peruvian law of 10th August 2002 and respects the protection regime for traditional indigenous knowledge related to biological resources.
